Why are there still so few people using silicone kitchenware in China? It's because some people still have doubts about the authenticity of silicone kitchenware.

How to identify whether silicone kitchenware is genuine? Some manufacturers use other similar silicone materials to impersonate silicone materials in order to save costs. They have similar hardness, feel, and elasticity to silicone materials. It is difficult to directly judge the truth and falsehood, but these materials are lower in cost and shorter in service life than silicone materials, and there is a big gap between anti-aging and other related properties and silicone materials.

 

Exploring the identification method of silicone kitchenware

 

1. In terms of hand feel

 

In terms of hand feel, silicone products have good toughness and elasticity, and are not easily permanently deformed by external forces. Moreover, the hand feel feels relatively smooth, while counterfeit silicone products are prone to deformation and feel rough because the surface of counterfeit silicone does not have a layer of oily substance.

 

2. In terms of characteristics

 

In terms of characteristics, silicone products are non-toxic and odorless, with good texture and no harm to the human body. Generally, counterfeit silicone products achieve these effects with silicone foot pads. Counterfeit and inferior silicone products are usually toxic, have a pungent odor, and are also relatively rough!

 

3. Use flame combustion

 

At the same time, we can also effectively burn real and fake silicone through flames. Fake silicone products produce black smoke and black powder residue when burned, while real silicone products produce white smoke and white powder residue regardless of color when burned.

 

4. Testing by chemical methods

 

Burn silicone rubber and expose it to smoke in a surface dish. Collect white powder and dissolve it in a hot solution of 40% strong alkali (60 degrees). Take one drop of this solution and put it into a test tube. Add two drops of ammonium molybdate, heat slightly, cool down, and add one drop of aniline solution and 3-8 drops of saturated sodium acetate solution. Observe the color reaction of the solution. If blue appears, it indicates the presence of silicon element and proves to be silica gel.
